Play at The Discovery Museums

Play is the most comfortable form of learning for both children and adults because it is a natural behavior that is driven by curiosity and creativity. The exhibits at The Discovery Museums were designed to inspire curiosity, creativity, and a love of learning through play.

Play for Young Children

The exhibits at Children's Discovery are designed around a theme to immerse children in an environment, so they can learn as they do in everyday life. Murals on the walls and child-size furnishings set the scene. Costumes, puppets, and stuffed animals encourage role playing.  Books spark imaginations and inspire storylines. Through play, children develop their little bodies and minds as they explore science, art, literacy, and cultural concepts.

Play for School Age Children

The hands-on, interactive exhibits at Science Discovery inspire older children to design experiments and make discoveries about their world using play experiences. Though play is often only associated with young children, it is in fact a lifelong activity. Play promotes curiosity and creativity which are necessary ingredients of learning. Imaginations sore as children interact with the activities that peak their interest, gain self-esteem after completing challenges, and laugh at the fun they are having. At the same time, the children are using their senses and critical thinking skills to explore science, math, and engineering concepts.

Play for Grown Ups
